Ditchling Archery Club

On May 2nd, a small group of Ditchling archers went to the Fakenham Warwick records status shoot in Norfolk. Conditions were dreadful, with 40mph winds and freezing temperatures, but despite that and the fact that she has been really off form for some time now, Emily achieved a new National record of 172 for Junior Girls Barebow Short Junior Warwick.

Since then, Pip was at the Lilleshall Junior Fita Star on July 3rd, shooting a Metric 2 in Junior Gents Compound. he finished 4th with a score of 1360, but broke the 50m (122cm ) National record with a score of 346.
WELL DONE !

We managed wins for Recurve and both Compound teams in June and Longbow drew on scores, but lost out in the number of golds. The results were as follows : –
Recurve v Hinxworth C – won 1655 -1589
Compound A v Beacon A – won 1310 – 0
Compound B v Thanet A – won 1221 – 0
Longbow v Bridlington A – lost 322 – 322 ( fewer golds )

Although it was dificult to fit the Selby in during a busy May and not many could take part, we finished with two wins and two losses. Pip shot both recurve and compound scoring 550 and 670 respectively, whilst Justin scored an impressive 582 in recurve.
The results are as follows:-
Recurve v Evesham – won 1649-1564
Compound A v Ayr A – lost 1287-1298
Compound B v Trackside – lost 0-1305
Longbow v Blue Arrows – won 189-0

There is a shoot (Ditchling vs St Dunstan’s) at St Dunstan’s on Saturday 5th June 2010.

Assembly is at 9.30am.

The round is to be determined on the day, but the maximum distance will be 40yards.

Time is running out and the only sunday free from other competitions is this sunday, the 16th. If there are enough people wanting to shoot it, we can give it a go. If not, it will have to be done on a wednesday or thursday evening and subject to the weather. We need a minimum of 3 recurves, 4 compound and 2 longbow, so if anyone can make it, be over the field early to help set up, so we can start by about 10am.

The Selby Summer Postal League starts again shortly and runs from May to September.This year we have entered 1 recurve and 2 compound teams shooting a short metric and 1 longbow team shooting a national. The new divisions and division scores are as follows:-
Recurve – Division 7 – 1560 (team of 3)
Comp. A – Division 3 – 1270 (team of 2)
Comp. B – Division 4 – 1240 .. ..
Longbow – Division 8 – 330 .. ..
