Ditchling Archery Club

Welcome to the website of Ditchling AC.

We are a thriving archery club in mid-Sussex with a current membership of around 50, which includes compound, recurve, recurve barebow and longbow archers. Many of our members have represented Sussex and enjoyed success in recent county championships, while we have five qualified coaches - three of whom are County coaches - to assist newcomers to the club.

We shoot year round in pleasant surroundings at Ditchling Recreation Ground, taking part in the Sussex County Albion League and the Selby Postal League during the Summer months. During the Indoor season from October to March our compound and recurve teams compete in the BA Postal League. Members also take part in open shoots run by archery clubs in Sussex and its neighbouring counties. There are, however, also many archers among our numbers who shoot for nothing but pleasure. Anyone, providing they have completed a recognised beginners course and they adhere to the GNAS motto of Union, Trueheart and Courtesie, is welcome to shoot with us.

Our website provides information about where we shoot, membership fees, our coaching team and our shooting calendar, together with regular updates on the club's activities and its progress in various competitions throughout the year. You will find relevant contact information on the site's pages or you can e-mail the webmaster, who will forward your enquiry to the appropriate person.

The Arrow In flight

September 27th, 2009

Well what a fantastic day for shooting, no wind lots of sunshine and not too hot. Well Fantastic if your bow doesn’t explode on the shooting line.

As mine did I had time to take some pictures and managed to capture this one of an arrow in flight.

It was an X as well

It was an X as well

It’s also amazing how the string moves

September Selby Results

September 22nd, 2009

I now have the results for september and it’s three wins again. Compound beat Bognor 1246-1216, recurve beat Scorton 1470-1383 and longbow beat Forest of Bere 412-366. This means that both compound and recurve won their respective divisions and the final league tables should be out in a few weeks time. Well done to all those that took part.

Club Colours – latest update

September 19th, 2009

I have now collected the first batch of polo shirts and will dish them out asap. I think everyone will be pleased as they look good, the only change, however, is that the ‘ladies’ shirts do not have a white collar as previously thought and are the same as the ‘mens’, with a light blue collar. This is probably a good thing, as not only will they all be the same, but they will not show marks as easily. I have ordered a second batch and will need payment this coming week, before I can collect and pay for them. I’m sure there are still some people who would like to have a top, so I will get another batch underway as soon as I have 10 or more to order.

Some samples of navy fleeces will soon be with me too, so anyone interested, please let me know. I think they will be around £15 each.

2009 Club Championship Results

September 10th, 2009

Full results posted on the Club Records page.

Selby Postal League

September 4th, 2009

We had a clean sweep in August, with compounds beating Monklands C by 1273 – 1206, longbows winning 328 – 0 against Lichfield who didn’t get a score and recurves beating league- leaders Wolverhampton B 1597 – 1575. Both compounds  and recurves are now top of their divisions, with just the september shoot to do.

Club Colours Update

August 25th, 2009

After talking with Phil on sunday, I have now registered the new club colours with the GNAS and we will be able to wear them from October 1st.  I listed them as follows :-

Polo shirts in Navy/Light blue as per sample, with club name or badge on front and optional club name on back and archers name on front.

Sweatshirts/Jumpers/Fleeces in Navy with club name or badge on front.

Trousers/shorts/skirts in Navy.

I also included White Polo shirts/Tshirts with club name or badge and white Trousers/Shorts/Skirts to cater for small junior sizes and hot summer days, but it was confirmed that we can wear them anyway.

I hope everyone is in agreement with all this and anyone wanting to find out more or obtain shirts etc, please see me over the field or get in touch.
